Until
the late summer of 2002, 86's and 87's still prevailed on the Euston
Services, and 86's and 47's on Cross Country. As can be seen in the
lower group of photographs taken at New Street, the 47's came in a
variety of liveries. Inter City, Virgin Red, EWS Red & Cream, Light
Blue, Dark Blue, and Police. The EWS 37 was on an unusual Freight
Working.
Three years later, it was possible
to spend virtually a whole day at New Street without seeing a single
locomotive. Such
is progress, and so it remains. International is rather better, with the
occasional Freightliner, Stone train, and general freight.
