The driver who took over at Portsmouth was either not aware of 33053's status, or chose not to be, for the running up to Buriton, and onwards to Guildford was superb. It was a pity about the checks from Surbiton onwards; with a clear road we should have been only 3 late into Waterloo not 9 The station announcer then apologised to passengers for the late arrival of the Portsmouth train, which was due to the use of an underpowered diesel locomotive.
