Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway

The Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway was opened in 1903, and used a gauge of 2ft 6in. Operated initially by the Cambrian Railway, it was taken over by the Great Western Railway in 1923. Passenger services ended in 1931, and the line closed completely in 1956. The line was reopened in 1963 by a group of enthusiasts, and has gone from strength to strength ever since. I have visited and travelled on the Railway regularly since 1984.

GALA: SEPTEMBER 2002:

Of interest was the use of Orion, and the appearance of a Chester Corporation double deck bus, and a Steam driven automobile. The Photos below were taken at Castle Caerinion and at Welshpool.
