Stafford 2002

Stafford is one of my my favourite Spotting and Photographic locations. In fact it is where I began my Railway hobby in February 1950, when I was introduced to trainspotting by a school friend.

I spent a lot of time on Stafford station in 2002. Particularly in the late summer when the use of Class 47's on Cross Country services came to an end. But there was still plenty of variety. The photographs below include a Class 56, and a MGR Coal train double headed by a Class 37 and a RES Class 47. And Class 90's on Euston Services produced examples in RFD and EWS liveries.

One of my favourite photos is the second one below. A couple of not so young spotters brought their deck chairs and sun hats with them, together with their liquid refreshment.
