      I
        started Railway Photography seriously in 1960, when I was given, for my
        21st Birthday, a Zeiss Ikon Contina camera with a 1/250th shutter speed. I used
        it to take transparencies, but unfortunately, I chose to use Agfa and
        Geva film, rather than the much superior Kodak and Ilford. The result
        was that after about 25 years, most of my collection had faded and had
        to be discarded.
         Almost all of the
        photos below are scans from transparencies that just about stood the test of time.
